CFO Claims Management

The Cooperative Efforts of Technology and Humanity
A good claims management system can give free time to a busy CFO by aiding the claims process, but it's not a robot that should dictate the process.
If corporate management were a pure democracy, executives might vote in favor of the robot approach so as to ensure a little more kick-back time in their schedules. But corporate management is an ongoing vital task that has few easy solutions, claims management being among the less cheerful tasks.
A little help here and there is welcome, but there's no automatic pilot that will guide a company effortlessly through every day casualty claims, let alone a catastrophe claim. Only in science fiction will a claims management robot dictate decisions to corporate management.
Assuming the claims process can't be made into a no-brainer, and that smart management always will be needed to monitor the process to some degree, what then is so wrong about having a little extra technical help here and there in the claims process side of work? A claims management system can provide just that.
It's almost worth its weight in gold, but fortunately the price is no where near that high. It's just software--a neat, reliable claims management system to help take the pressure off a CFO with a million and one other things to worry about.
Shopping Around for the Right System
Sometimes it's right to worry, however. For example, there may be a dozen helpful account executives who are more than happy to explain claims management systems to CFO with time on their hands. But choosing the wrong system can sour the whole wonderful plan for systematic success.
Having a system that is not tailored around a company's processes can be more of a hindrance than anything else. Then the company will have to go back to shopping around again, but this time more carefully.
Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) have come a long way. For instance, there's a claims system for every scenario in the book, be it auto liability or physical damage, Workers' Compensation, general liability, or products liability.
A good claims management system is fast, with up to date technology tailored to a company's unique requirements. There should be plenty of support available, accurate data always on hand, very "user friendly" pricing, and best of all, help with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) record keeping.
Remember, the client is in the driver's seat in this, so if your claims management system isn't tending to your company's particular needs, it's time to give it a tune-up or trade it in for a system more along the lines of one that would be responsive and not dictatorial.
Whether its tracking insurance certificates for dozens of states, increasing ROI by saving time and money, or just having the peace of mind that comes from knowing the workplace is as safe as possible, a modern, web-based claims management system has been a proven winner for hundreds of major business operations.
